Sonne Teal

Biography

Sone Teal (born Spencer Teal in Canada in the 30s) studied with a modern ballet group, and, as Sonne, joined a female impersonation revue, before performing at the 82 Club in New York.  He work in Paris with Bambi at the Casino de Paris, and made an European tour. He appeared in the movie called “La Poupée” (The Doll), year 1962, directed by Jacques Baratier, in which he plays the dictator’s wife and also her robot double. Apparently the director did not realize Sonne’s off-stage gender before casting. He died on a Japanese tour in 1966, with four other members of Le Carrousel, in a freak accident flying over Mount Fujiyama.
