Nico Pelamonia

Biography

Born in Ambon. Education: Completed SLA entering ATNI in 1962, Upgrading for Film and TV Directing in West Germany (1969-1970). His father wanted him to become a priestess field, but Nico was more interested in art. When he was still studying at ATNI, he was already actively participating in performances. Then worked at TVRI as a director. While being a TV person, in 1963 Nico stepped into the world of film as an extra in Behind the Clouds, by Fred Young. 1965, Capt. Harun Rasidi and his wife, Tuti Mutia, were actively involved in their company Pertisa Film which later became Tuti Mutia Film Production. In the first production of Fadjar Amidst the Fog (1966), Nico, apart from playing, also directed it, accompanying Danu Umbara. The first directing result: Sendja Di Djakarta (1967, Mochtar Lubis novel). Upon his return from Germany (1970), he starred in several films as Jang Dropped at the Feet of Men (1971) and Bark Dogs (1972), before directing. Nico received the best directorial image for the film "Semalam di Malaysia" (1975) at FFI in 1976. After the Festival, Nico left Tuti Mutia Film Production, to become a freelance director. After that he produced films: Faces of Three Women (1976), Marina (1977), Yoan (1977), children's films, Women Without Sin (1978), End of the Night (1979). In the Preferred Boy (1973) Nico was voted best actor at the 1974 Asian Film Festival in Taipei, Taiwan.
