Tana Mongeau
Biography
Tana Marie Mongeau (born June 24, 1998) is an American Internet personality. She is known to make "storytime" videos and similar content posted to her YouTube channel. She is also well known for a number of controversies and questionable stunts, most nobility Tanacon. In 2018, Mongeau announced that she would be hosting her own convention, titled TanaCon, at the same time and in the same city as VidCon 2018, from June 22–23 after VidCon failed to give Mongeau the rights at the convention of a "featured creator." TanaCon took place in Anaheim, California, at the Anaheim Marriott Suites, on June 22, 2018, and was cancelled the same day. Despite Mongeau's claims that 20,000 people tried to attend the convention, 2,000 to 5,000 people attended at most and the Marriott was not capable of holding even that many people. The event had received much attention and criticism after people were left outside for hours, without food or water in the heat. Mongeau received further criticism after she was pictured attending a party in the midst of the sandal. The Verge said that fans were comparing it to Fyre Festival, and attendees were yelling "refund" after the event. Mongeau later apologized and said that refunds would be issued, however many attendees still claim to never have received it. She is also known for her infamous fake marriage to fellow YouTuber, Jake Paul. The two married in a false ceremony and live streamed it to paying fans. They continued to broadcast their "marriage" and "divorce," until it was revealed the ceremony was not official.
